Goodnight you Princes of Fenway, you Kings of Boston

I did play Right Field when I was in elementary school, and this video is close to my heart for that reason. The little boy who is too busy daydreaming to pay attention to the game? That was me... but a GIRL.
I would look to Left Field and see my old friend Erin SITTING in the grass and making dandelion chains... at least I stood... at least I stood.
I also found it was best to never swing at the ball, because my best bet for getting on base would be to walk there... one time I did swing and miraculously hit the ball and made it to first and THAT was exciting... but that's all you get when you wear giant purple glasses and your Mom is the coach and you get to pick the team colors... purple and white... purple and white... ya.
Was I good at baseball? No.
Did I love it? Yes. Yes I did.
Did I think that all athletes chewed Big League chew and drank Gatorade? Yes.
Did I wish I had a cool nickname on the team? Yes.
Did my poor performance as a young softball player WARRANT a nickname? No.
Did I wear my Jammin' Salmon fanny pack that my uncle David got me from Alaska to Fenway Park in 1989? Absolutely I did.
Did I write about it in my diary, chronicling the fact that I decided it would be important to bring $2 and a stick of gum with me? Yes.
And did I love "A League of Their Own"? Ya.
Did my Mom take a picture of me wearing overalls and standing in front of the Women's Baseball Display at the Baseball Hall of Fame? Yes she did. She's a good woman.
Did I buy the cassette single of 'This Used to Be My Playground' at the Strawberrys in Sudbury? I did that. Yes.
Did I go to a Red Sox meet 'n greet in Brockton and did Brian Daubach stop for me to take a picture of him on his way out? Yes I did and yes HE did. He is a good man, that Brian Daubach.
Did I introduce my friend and current roommate to the wonders of the Red Sox the very first time I met her when I told her she was Jason Varitek and I was Derek Lowe and we played catch with a balloon? Yes I did.
Were we drunk? Sadly no.
Did we then have an insane hatred for the Yankees and all Yankees fans? Yes.
Did we pardon Fred Durst for his interest in the Yankees? Yes.
Did my cousin Christine try to get Derek Lowe's attention in the bullpen by yelling at him? Yes she did.
Did Derek Lowe turn around? No.
Did Derek Lowe decide to excuse himself from our line of vision for the rest of the game? Yes he did.
Did I get to go to shitloads of free Red Sox games and one PawSox game when I worked for Principal Financial Group? Yes.
Was Brian Daubach playing at that PawSox game? Yes.
Did my sister meet Lou Merloni? Yes. He's from Framingham.
Did I go to a game with my sister and her friends and Hal Gill sat behind us? Yes.
Did my sister question his fame to his face? Ya, she sure did.
Did I miss both Rolling Rallies? I don't want to talk about it... but I did.
Was I drunk at the last game I went to, which was July 4, 2007 and cannot remember who they even played? Yes... but in my defense we had an open bar lunch through the Boston Young Professionals Association...
Was I a little sad that I would miss the Red Sox Wives Charity Fashion Show at the Natick Mall by moving to Chicago? Yes. They have a sweet deal those Red Sox Wives.
Did I urge Talbots to submit an outfit to be worn in the Fashion Show? Yes.
Did they? I don't know. Probably not.
Has this question and answer format gone on for too long? Yes.
Am I done? Yes.

In short... I like-a da baseball. And I will miss watching Sox games until next year.
Goodbye Red Sox 2008 Season!! Gooodbyyyyeeeee!!
